ROSEDALE. YORKSHIRE MOORS.

Cross Leaved Heather. (Erica tetralix).

All that moorland, all that vista but this little posy won the day for me. Lots going on in this image nevertheless. First of all, note the dry brown heather middle left, yes, the heather bloomed early this year and caught me out. I reckon I was two weeks late. Secondly note the little holes on the blooms.  Some crafty little critter who was never designed to extract nectar in the normal manner (through the front door) bites holes in the sides and simply pokes his head in, job done. I will get the time to find out what fly/bee does this.
