The Cleethorpes Council and the manager of the Discovery Centre in particular asked John Leslie (local landscape photographer) & I if we would put on an exhibition for them. We used to have an annual exhibition there every year which lasted about 2 weeks.
Imagine our shock when they then went on to say "we would like you to fill the whole place, the downstairs gallery and the upstairs gallery and they need to be mounted and framed in FOUR WEEKS TIME"!
We looked and figured that was going to be around 70 images. So selecting the images, ordering frames to be made cutting window mounts, we were going to be busy, could we do it?
The picture framer "Peter Hodson" did not let us down, "Comley Cameras", Cleethorpes did a great job of printing and all on time, the guy who was contracted to arrive, clear the old exhibition, redecorate and hang this new exhibition arrived on time, got on with the job and the place was ready for the opening on 10th May. So thank you all for that.
This is the biggest exhibition we have ever done, I hope you come and see it if you can.
I have had a hunger to try some fine art toned monochrome images ever since I saw beautiful the work of "Sebastio Selgado" in his book Genesis and the superb work of that other artist "Nick Brandt". It has taken me two years to get the hang of it because the little grey cells grind a little slowly nowadays! However, when this image of a Muntjac Deer finally received the last touch of magic, I was well and truly hooked and I cannot wait to find some more subjects.
I have three of these new fine art images on show in the upper gallery, they have never been shown anywhere before and so I wonder if folk will like them as much as I do, I hope you do.
MUNTJAC DEERMy first fine art picture.
The exhibition runs all summer until September and is free. It is at the Cleethorpes Discovery Centre. King's Road Cleethorpes. Lincolnshire. Post code for your Satnav's is DN35OAG
